Aljaz Valic

ParawingTriple777 (own brand; "the 777")

Slovenia’s entry in the parawing brand race. Aljaz Valic founded and designs Triple777, one of the dozen-plus brands that piled in within months of Greg Drexler’s Maliko V1 launch in August 2024. Few of them carry the founder’s name the way this one does. We list the marque as “Triple777/Aljaz Valic”.

From paragliding comps to parawing design

Valic came up through paragliding competition, not kiting or winging like most parawing designers. In this discipline that background counts for more than almost anywhere else, because a parawing sits closer to a paraglider’s soft-canopy engineering (an inflation-free parafoil on short bridles) than to an inflatable wing. He has since teased a next design he calls a “game changer”, the LTX. As of our last check it was an announcement, not a shipped product.

How the 777 is rated

Independent validation is rare for a small brand. Triple777 has it. Matt Kaufmann (“Matt on Foil”) is the most data-driven reviewer we’ve catalogued: he weighs wings, measures leading-edge thickness and has ranked 18 parawings on bar weight, bridle length, pumpability and upwind performance. He names the Triple777 (“the 777”) a favorite for speed and value, next to his top pick (F-One Frigate) and budget standout (Gong Lowkite Plus).

Racer as well as designer, with a caveat

Valic races too. Earlier drafts of this page flagged a “2nd in Youth Men at Leucate” claim as unverified. The official SFT protocols settle it: the Leucate protocol (April 2026) lists no Youth division at all, and Valic finished 10th in the men’s fleet there. At the Lake Garda stage (July 2026) the official protocol has him 5th in the Parawing event and 2nd in the Master division, behind Dmitry Evseev and ahead of Maksim Pashkevskii. Like Drexler and Dom Zimmermann he has been a guest on the LabRat Foiler Podcast, Daniel Paronetto’s show. It’s the sport’s dedicated parawing podcast and the best primary source for his design thinking.

What isn’t documented

Beyond the two-word “game changer” tease, no verbatim quotes from Valic have surfaced in our sourcing. We also don’t have his home spot within Slovenia, his age, or his personal foil setup. What is solid: the brand, the paragliding background, Kaufmann’s independent speed/value endorsement, and the LTX tease. In a sport two years old, that’s enough to keep the 777 (and whatever the LTX turns out to be) on your radar.
