Scott Drexler

Boardriding Maui (BRM) launched the Maliko V1 in August 2024 and with it the modern parawing. Scott Drexler co-founded the company and runs its visual storytelling. He is the brother of Greg Drexler, the designer the community calls “Mr Parawing,” and among the riders we track he sits in the inventor/designer tier by association with the brand that started the discipline.

Role at BRM

Co-founder, and the person behind the brand’s visual output. Greg designs every BRM product; Scott tells the story: the imagery and media through which most people first saw parawing foiling. In a sport whose knowledge base is almost entirely video and podcasts, that job is less peripheral than it sounds. The early footage out of Maui is a large part of why over a dozen brands piled into parawings within months of the Maliko V1.

Riding background

Kite foiler, multi-sport waterman. That squares with the one direct quote on record from him: “Parawing is the latest addition to our adventure in foiling… The parawing borrows from the kite technology, so in a way it’s bringing it all together.” A designer-family view of the sport (parawing as the point where kite canopy technology and foiling converge), and one consistent with BRM’s lineage, which runs through Greg’s decade at Naish and the strutless BRM Cloud kites before any parawing existed.

What isn’t documented

A thin profile, and we would rather keep it thin than pad it. Nothing on record covers Scott’s personal gear setup, his age, competition results (none appear in any 2026 SFT parawing standings), his social channels, or specific film/photo credits. The single verifiable primary source for more is BRM itself: boardridingmaui.com and its about page. If BRM publishes more about his work, or he turns up on one of the sport’s podcasts (LabRat Foiler, Up On Foil, Foil Life), this page gets extended. Until then the documented record reads: co-founder, storyteller, kite foiler, brother of the inventor.
