Slow on foil or come off foil so the canopy unloads, then sheet out onto the front/A-lines to collapse it. A canopy with load in it fights you for every centimetre of line.
Pull the four middle lines up until you reach the point where the lines fan out. Stop there, before the knot: those knots under tension cut your fingers. This double-stage reach keeps your stance intact even on short (sub-150 cm) linesets, so you don't over-stretch and lose the wave.
Direct the canopy down as you fold. Held above you it keeps making thrust; broken downward, gravity itself helps stow the cells. This is the moment it starts to collapse into a bundle.
Intercept to the leading edge and let the lines go — don't stall on the lines. Keep the whole bundle away from your body so nothing catches the harness hook. Pass the LE to your bar hand and pin it under the bar, everything in one hand.
Rotate the bar 180° so the wind wraps the lines inward. Then grab the trailing edge of the canopy so the lines end up inside the canopy. Press it to your body and twist it closed.
Stuff the bundle into the belt, bar handle first. Always stow on the same tack (I use starboard) so you always know which side the leading edge is on for a controlled redeploy. Then a two-second check: nothing trailing.
Stashing is the reason this sport exists. Every other skill on a parawing (launch, upwind, jibes) has a close cousin in wingfoiling. Packing a soft, line-controlled canopy into a waist belt at speed and riding away on pure swell energy does not. The whole discipline dates to August 21, 2024, when Greg Drexler of Boardriding Maui debuted the Maliko V1 (per The Inertia), and the stow-and-glide loop is what it unlocked. Get this sequence wired and the rest of the intermediate curriculum opens up; fumble it and you will spend sessions floating in a spiderweb of your own lines.

A canopy with load in it will fight you for every centimetre of line. Slow down on the foil (or come off foil entirely for your first sessions) and sheet out onto the front/A-lines so the wing folds and drops. Single-skins collapse readily; that fast, deep-in-the-window behaviour is why they dominate stash-and-glide. On newer designs like the Flysurfer POW² you can trigger the A-line collapse with one hand, which matters because your other hand is about to be busy.
The common failure here is in the head, not the hands. Riders feel the glide window closing and start gathering while the canopy still has pressure. Depower is not a step you can compress. Everything downstream gets faster when the wing is fully dead.
Don’t grab everything at once. Take the four middle lines and pull them up until you reach the point where the lines fan out and split. Stop there, just before the knot. Those knots sit under tension and will cut your fingers if you pull onto them, so the reach ends short of them by design.
This is the “double-stage 4A” version of the stow, and the reason for it is your stance, not your hands. Parawing linesets are short — often under 150 cm — and if you over-reach to grab the canopy in one motion, you break your stance and can lose the wave you’re on, which forces a pump to recover. The double-stage reach keeps your body where it was and your ride uninterrupted, even on short lines.
The number one mistake at this stage is not about the lines: rotate your harness hook to your back before you start the stow. A kite-style spreader-bar hook is a line magnet sitting exactly where the bundle passes; turn it away, keep the whole bundle away from your body, and an entire category of tangle disappears.

Now intercept forward to the leading edge and let the lines go — don’t stall picking at lines. Pass the leading edge to your bar hand and pin it under the bar so everything is in one hand.
Then the step that captures the lines cleanly: turn the bar 180°. That rotation lets the wind wrap the lines inward. Grab the trailing edge of the canopy and the lines end up inside the canopy — which is the whole game, because loose lines outside the bundle are a guaranteed tangle on redeploy. Press it to your body and twist it closed. Forum riders report roughly 50–75% clean-redeploy rates early on, and the failures trace back to this capture far more often than to the redeploy technique itself.
Push the bar handle through the belt first, then work the canopy in. Do it on the same tack every time — I always stow on starboard — so you always know which side the leading edge is on when it’s time to redeploy. That single habit turns the redeploy from a guess into a routine.
Then the check. Look down. Anything trailing? A tail of canopy or a loop of line hanging out of the belt is a dragnet waiting for your next crash, and losing a belt-stowed wing in a wipeout is a failure mode multiple riders report. Two seconds of inspection buys you the whole glide.
Nobody has published a measured study of stow times, and every figure in circulation is somebody’s estimate, so treat them all as such. A drilled stow is quick, but speed is the wrong thing to chase: top-rider times vary, and some BRM riders fly for under a minute then stash for a 45-minute single downwind send, which tells you how little the stow time matters next to its reliability.
Nobody has consolidated this, so here it is. Each brand attacks a different link in the chain.

One caveat. I have not put every one of these systems through repeated water sessions, and belt comparisons in this sport age in months: our specs database already lists 40 models from 18 brands. Where a verdict needs water time, I will publish measured numbers rather than repeat marketing copy.
One sorting note that crosses brands: colour-coded bridles (Ozone, F-One, Ensis) meaningfully speed up line identification during the gather and after tangles. Single-colour linesets (the most-cited downside of the Flysurfer POW) make every line look alike exactly when you have the least time to look.

Nobody has published a measured study, and the figures in circulation are guide estimates. Once the sequence is drilled it is quick, a matter of seconds; while learning expect it to take far longer, and expect to come off foil for your first dozens of stows.
You need somewhere secure to put the bundle, and a dedicated belt or pouch is the reliable answer. Ozone, BRM, Flow, North and Manera all sell stash belts or harnesses; some riders run DIY dry-bag rigs to carry a second wing. Stuffing a wing down your wetsuit works until the first wipeout.
Yes: that is the signature skill of the sport. But learn the sequence on land first, then off foil on the water, then on foil. The stow itself is the same; what changes is how much balance and attention you have to spare.
Stop, come off foil, and sort the lines while floating, never mid-ride. Pulling on tangled lines will not inflate the wing. Short 2–4 m linesets make most tangles quick to resolve.
